Fallen hero Tigran Poghosyan would have turned 28 today
Today, February 21, marks the birthday anniversary of Tigran Poghosyan, an Armenian officer who died a hero’s death when executing his duties at an Artsakh military post in 2016. The hero would have turned 28 today.
Tigran Poghosyan was from the village of Horom in Armenia’s Shirak Province. From 2010-2014 he studied at the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan of the Armenian Defense Ministry. He was engaged in boxing and karate.
In 2014 he was promoted to the military rank of lieutenant and appointed as a platoon commander of a military unit of the Artsakh Defense Army, being stationed near Martakert.
The officer was killed in an Azerbaijani mortar shelling on 26 April, saving the life of one of his soldiers.
He was posthumously awarded with the Armenian Medal for Courage and the Medal for Combat Service of Artsakh.
“The best guys are those who protect the military posts. The homeland is sacred and the sacred land must be protected,” the lieutenant once said.
