Yerevan court to hear ex-security chief’s lawsuit against Haykakan Zhamanak daily
The Yerevan First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction will hear a lawsuit filed by former National Security Service Director Artur Vanetsyan against Haykakan Zhamanak daily, Pastinfo reported citing a court decision.
“Getting acquainted with the lawsuit and the attached documents, I find them to be in accordance with the requirements of Articles 121 and 122 of the Civil Procedure Code of Armenia, therefore the lawsuit needs to be admited into the proceedings,” reads the decision made by judge A. Pilosyan.
Artur Vanetsyan filed a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper in early February after the paper published an article accusing him of being behind "slanderous" reports about the Armenian PM and his family spread by "specific media outlets."
The former security chief demands that the newspaper retract the article and compensate for non-pecuniary damages.
