Armenian Embassy cautions against travel to coronavirus-hit areas of Italy
The Embassy of Armenia in Italy warns Armenian citizens against visiting parts of Italy affected by an outbreak of the new coronavirus amid a sharp increase in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.
In particular, Armenian citizens are advised not to travel to the towns of Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano in Lombardy and Vo' Euganeo in Veneto.
In an official statement on Monday, the embassy also cautioned Armenian nationals against appearing in crowded places in northern Italy in general.
Armenian citizens who are currently in Italy or are planning to visit the country are advised to contact the Armenia Embassy in Italy to register their contact information and the period of their stay.
“We call for following the instructions of the Health Ministry of Armenia and the relevant authorities of Italy,” the statement said.
Italy has confirmed 219 coronavirus cases and the death of as many as six people from the virus.
