Armenia not considering closing Georgian border due to coronavirus, says security council chief
Armenia is not considering closing its border with Georgia at the moment despite the first case of coronavirus reported in the country, Secretary of the National Security Council Armen Grigoryan told reporters on Friday.
Georgia confirmed its first coronavirus case on Wednesday. Armenia has closed its border with coronavirus-hit Iran for two weeks, only allowing cargo shipments.
“The relevant agencies [of Armenia and Georgia] are in contact with each other over the situation in Georgia. All the issues and options are being discussed, with the solutions to be tailored to the situation," he said.
According to the Security Council chief, Armenia’s counter-coronavirus task force is in touch with the health authorities of the neighboring countries and will make appropriate decisions in case of danger.
