Russian tour operators calculated losses from coronavirus
The Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) reported possible industry losses due to the outbreak of coronavirus in China and the ban on Chinese citizens entering Russia. The lost income of inbound tourism in February and March may amount to about 27 billion rubles, Gazeta.ru reports.
As Executive Director (ATOR) Maya Lomidze said, if the tourist flow from China does not resume in the summer season, the industry’s losses could reach 31,2 billion rubles. This is not about direct losses, but about lost profits.
It is noted that the estimates have been made as of February 25 and have not considered the possible losses from Europe amid the reported cases of the virus in Italy.
