Head of Kocharyan’s office comments on new book about ex-president’s case
Viktor Soghomonyan, the head of second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan’s office, had learned about a new book on the case of the ex-president before it hit the news.
“The authors told me that they were writing such a book and intended to publish it. I am very happy because anything that will help keep the past events and this case fresh in people's memories is extremely useful,” Soghomonyan told Panorama.am in an interview.
Prior to that, there had been no discussions with the authors about the content or materials of the book, he said. The book has used facts from open sources and media outlets, making conclusions and assessments based on them.
According to Soghomonyan, the Armenian society falls short of remembering, correctly estimating, observing in the respective context and making conclusions even on the recent events.
“Unfortunately, this problem exists not only in Armenia but also in many other countries. This stems from the activation of information flows due to the development of technologies. In this regard, I attach great importance to the emergence of such a book, which will allow to keep people's memory alive forever,” Soghomonyan said, thanking the authors of the book.
He says he has expressed readiness to assist the authors in publishing the book if necessary.
