People march in Armenia’s Gyumri to condemn violence against women
A group of people are marching though Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri against violence targeting women.
Demonstrators are holding posters reading, “No to violence”, “Women are murdered amid your silence”, “Women are murdered in their families”, and others.
The march comes after an incident in which a 43-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her partner on the night of 4 March. The man also beat up her 13-year-old daughter, who is in a critical condition now.
“The woman's life could have been saved if we had not been indifferent to the violence, noticed the bruises on her face and alerted when she had been lying in the house for eight hours with severe injuries and waiting," one of the marchers said.
