Armenian wrestlers continue training ahead of Tokyo Olympics qualification tournaments
Armenian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers continue their regular trainings at Olympavan training complex in Yerevan ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualification tournaments to be held in Budapest from March 19-22 and in Sofia from April 30-May 3.
Freestyle wrestling team head coach Habetnak Kurghinyan announced on Tuesday the lineup of his team, which features Arsen Harutyunyan (57 kg), Volodya Frangulyan (65 kg), Hrayr Amirkhanyan (74 kg), Hovhannes Mkhitaryan (86 kg), Khadzhimurat Gatsalov (97 kg) and Levan Berianidze (125 kg), the National Olympic Committee’s press service reported.
The Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team includes Gevorg Gharibyan (60 kg), Slavik Galstyan (67 kg), Maksim Manukyan (87 kg) and heavyweight David Ovasapyan.
Wrestlers making it to the finals of the tournaments will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. The Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team has already secured two Olympic spots.
