Young Armenian woman who died in hospital had another disease, health ministry says
The young Armenian woman diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia who died at Erebouni Medical Center in Yerevan on 8 March was suffering from another disease which caused her death, the Ministry of Health said.
Panorama.am contacted the ministry on Thursday to find out whether the woman had been tested for the novel coronavirus. The press service of the ministry said they will clarify the issue and provide further information.
“She had pneumonia in February and applied to the medical center where she was tested for all types of flu, but the results were negative. A different illness was confirmed in her, which was the cause of her death,” the ministry said.
The health authorities refused to elaborate on the disease, stressing it is a medical secret.
The woman in her twenties was first taken to Martuni Medical Center on March 8. On the same day she was transferred to Erebouni Medical Center where she passed away.
Speaking to News.am, Director of Martuni Medical Center Andranik Harutyunyan said the patient applied to them at 5:15pm with double pneumonia.
“All measures were taken. In the evening, at 10:30pm, she was transferred to Erebouni Medical Center, where she died some time later,” the director said.
