Armenian government discussing declaration of state of emergency over coronavirus
The Armenian government is discussing the possibility of declaring a state of emergency in the country for one month in an effort to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Speaking at a special cabinet meeting on Monday, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan proposed declaring a state of emergency from March 16, 5pm local time, to April 16, 9am, arguing the spread of coronavirus poses threats to the constitutional order.
Armenia has reported 30 coronavirus cases so far. The first confirmed coronavirus patient in the country is said to have recovered. More than 300 people remain quarantined.
