National Gallery of Armenia to extend ‘Dali and Picasso’ exhibition amid coronavirus lockdown
The National Gallery of Armenia has been hosting an exhibition of works by prominent Spanish artists Salvador Dali, one of the founders of the surrealist movement, and Pablo Picasso, the founder of the Cubism movement, since March 7.
The exhibition was originally set to run through April 16, but it will be extended since the galley, along with all other cultural centers, is currently shut down due to a state of emergency declared in the country to curb the further spread of the novel coronavirus.
Anush Nikoghosyan, the head of the National Gallery’s Public Relations Department, told Panorama.am the exhibition will definitely be extended, but she could not unveil any specific timeframes.
“Director of the National Gallery Arman Tsaturyan has reached an agreement with the owner of the collection. The exhibition will definitely be extended,” she said.
Nikoghosyan also informed that the exhibition tickets purchased online for the period when the gallery is closed will not be considered invalid. After the gallery reopens people having such tickets can go to the exhibition.
A total of 260 works by the renowned Spanish artists from the collection of Alexander Shadrin are on display at the gallery.
