Sadakhlo checkpoint remains closed for people’s movement due to Marneuli and Bolnisi lockdown
The Sadakhlo checkpoint at Armenian-Georgian border is closed for the movement of people due to the lockdown of Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia, the Armenian Embassy reported. According to the source, the Embassy is working to ensure the return of Armenian citizens who are currently in Georgia.
The restriction does not apply to cargo movement. The Embassy, however, adds that the transit cargo transportation has been temporarily suspended by the Georgian authorities due to the accumulation of trucks on the Georgian side of the border as well as the announced lockdown in the municipalities in question.
Agenda.ge reminds that Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia have been placed under lockdown after a local, 62-year-old woman tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday after coming into contact with more than 80 people and spending four days in a local hospital.
