Armenian parliament discussing penalties for violation of isolation, self-isolation requirements
The Armenian National Assembly is discussing a package of draft laws on amending the Criminal Code and Code on Administrative Offences at a special sitting on Monday.
Lawmakers voted unanimously to pass the amendments in the first reading on Friday.
Overall, 107 MPs have registered for the sitting.
The package of draft laws envisages a fine of 300 to 500 times the minimum wage for those who break the requirements of self-isolation amid a state of emergency. The violation of the isolation or self-isolation requirements resulting in mass infection will be punishable by up to 3 months of arrest or up to five years in jail.
Under the amendments, a violation of the restrictions on publication of information is subject to a fine of 50 to 300 times the minimum salary.
