London-based Armenian painter Edman Ayvazian passed away
London-based Armenian-Iranian painter, architect and designer Edman Ayvazian passed away, the National Gallery of Armenia reported.
Edman Ayvazyan was born in Tehran. In 1939-1948, he studied at Tehran Tamadon School, 1964-1966 - Academy of Arts, Rome. At the age of 16 Ayvazyan won "Young People" medal in International Art Competition, at the age of 25 he won the first prize given by Modern Iranian Painters and Iranian Cultural Ministry.
Ayvazyan has depicted Daredevils of Sassoun, the works of Hovhannes Tumanyan, has created many portraits, landscapes, seascapes. His works can be find in many churches museums including Lazar Gallery, House-Museum of Aram Khachaturian and the National Gallery of Armenia.
In 2015, Ayvazyan was awarded Arshil Gorki of the Ministry of Diaspora of Armenia.
