Armenian parliament votes down two opposition-proposed bills
The Armenian National Assembly continued its regular four-day session on Wednesday, putting to a vote the bills discussed at the previous sitting.
Lawmakers adopted a total of 12 draft laws, 10 of which – in the second and final reading.
At the same time, the parliament voted down two bills submitted by deputies from the Bright Armenia opposition faction.
In particular, the draft law on amending the Tax Code of Armenia was rejected by 74 votes against.
Bright Armenia MP Mane Tandilyan, using Article 81 of the law “On Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly”, proposed to discuss the issue of submitting written proposals related the draft law, which was unanimously passed by the parliament.
MPs also rejected in the second reading the amendments to the law "On Local Self-Government". Only 36 lawmakers backed the bill, while 77 voted against it.
