Armenia reports first death from coronavirus
Armenia’s health ministry on Thursday reported the first death of coronavirus in the country. Press secretary at the health ministry Alina Nikoghosyan identified the case as a 72-year-old patient who had been hospitalized at Nork Infectious Clinical Hospital in Yerevan, and died on Thursday.
As Nikoghosyan detailed, the patient suffered from double pneumonia associated with poliorganic insufficiency, hypertonic disease, heart rhythm disorder, adding the patient’s life was not possible to save due to accompanying diseases. The patient had been in intensive care unit since Wednesday with condition assessed as critical.
To remind, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported earlier that 290 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Armenia as of March 26. Despite the rising number of cases, most who become infected suffer only mild symptoms. 18 patients have recovered from the virus thus far.
