Armenian government OKs aid to unemployed pregnant women facing social issues due to coronavirus
At a special meeting on Monday, the Armenian government approved the seventh measure to support pregnant women facing social issues as a result of labor market difficulties caused by the spread of coronavirus.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan said financial assistance will be provided to pregnant women who have no jobs as of 30 March and whose spouses were fired in the period from 13 -30 March and did not get another job in the same period.
The support will be provided in the form of a lump sum allowance of 100,000 drams, the minister said.
Zaruhi Batoyan was tasked to introduce the order of providing the lump-sum allowance by April 1.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the pregnant women whose spouses have died for some reason should also receive financial assistance.
