Armenian health minister: Two new coronavirus cases imported from abroad
Armenia has reported a total of 482 cases of coronavirus so far, with 58 new cases confirmed in the past one day.
At a cabinet meeting on Monday, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said one of the new coronavirus patients was identified as a medical worker. Two of the cases have been imported from abroad, according to the minister.
Only one COVID-19 patient is in a critical condition at the moment, while 14 others are in a grave condition. The minister says positive dynamics are expected in the condition of the critically ill patient, who may be weaned off the ventilator.
Two other patients may also be moved to a regular ward from the intensive care unit, the minister said.
In response to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s question whether all coronavirus patients under intensive care have underlying health conditions, Arsen Torosyan said: “All, except one, who simply delayed in seeking medical care. He is a young man with double pneumonia.”
So far, 30 people have recovered from coronavirus in Armenia, with more recoveries expected in the next few days, the health minister said.
As for the statistics on the age of people infected with coronavirus worldwide, Torosyan said they vary from country to country, depending on the lifestyle of the population in question: “For example, if we have a 30-year-old person who smokes 3 cigarettes a day, he is a potentially incurable patient and we might record a young death.”
