Artsakh hosting statewide elections
Polls have opened across Artsakh for the presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.
As many as 14 candidates are running for president in Artsakh, while 10 parties and 2 alliances are competing for seats in the National Assembly.
The number of eligible voters in the country stands at 103,663, Artsakhpress reported, citing the Police of Artsakh.
“The elections will be held in all 228 communities of Artsakh. In total, 282 polling stations have been established,” Srbuhi Arzumanyan, Chairperson of the Artsakh Central Electoral Commission, told a news conference on Monday.
“Election precincts have also been set up outside, one of which is located at the representation of Artsakh in Armenia, and another at the Shushi penitentiary,” she said.
Artsakh Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan informs that elections will be broadcast live from all 48 major polling stations throughout the voting day.
The Artsakh / Information Headquarters reports that 5,200 face masks and 10,400 gloves have been provided to the Central Electoral Commission of Artsakh by the Armenian Ministry of Health for the statewide elections. All 282 polling stations and about 10 offices have been disinfected, as well as provided with antimicrobial disinfectants as part of efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Artsakh citizens will be given 80,000 masks and 160,000 gloves during the elections. Police officers will also be provided with 3,000 masks and gloves if necessary.
