Iran confirms 44,606 COVID-19 cases
Iran recorded 3,111 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the total number to 44,606, Xinhua reported, citing country's official IRNA news agency.
In addition,"the death toll from the outbreak rose by 141 to 2,898," Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Health and Medical Education, was quoted as saying.
So far, 14,656 patients have recovered from the disease, said Jahanpur, adding 3,703 are in critical condition.
More than 65 million Iranians have been screened for the coronavirus symptoms online as part of the nationwide efforts to contain the spread of disease, the spokesman noted.
He also acknowledged the contribution of the majority of people to the implementation of measures adopted by the health ministry to contain the disease.
The minority who violate the regulations will be prosecuted by the law, the Iranian official said.
