PM: Armenia extends nationwide coronavirus lockdown for at least 10 days
The nationwide lockdown against the coronavirus outbreak is being extended in Armenia for at least 10 days, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a Facebook live.
The lockdown measures imposed on 24 March were due to end on Friday, March 31.
“Analyzing the situation around coronavirus today, we have come to a conclusion that the heightened restrictions have to be extended for at least 10 days. Such a decision stems from the increasing number of confirmed coronavirus cases,” he said.
According to the prime minister, 90 out of those infected with COVID-19 in Armenia have pneumonia, with 30 patients being in a grave condition.
"In fact, the situation is very risky; we must take it very seriously and take dramatic measures to control this situation," Pashinyan stressed.
In the PM’s words, a number of vital rights of Armenian citizens have to be restricted as part of the government's efforts to combat the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
