Armenian government to help certain citizens with utility bills
At a special cabinet meeting on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan presented the eleventh measure to neutralize the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak for approval of government members.
According to Grigoryan, the measure is aimed at supporting a group of citizens facing social problems as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
The beneficiaries of the measure are those subscribers of the natural gas and electricity, whose gas and electricity bills for February 2020 did not exceed 10,000 drams and 5,000 drams, respectively. The government is set to reimburse 50% of the bills, Grigoryan said.
"Those who have debts, the debt will be reduced to the extent that those who do not have debts, there will be an advance payment, i.e. future payments will be reduced by that amount. The program will be implemented very fast; we have applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission, which will check the lists with the companies providing utility services in 1 to 2 days and will make the payments,” the deputy prime minister said, proposing the government to approve the plan.
