Armenian PM: We have a ‘strong chance to break the backbone of the virus’
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the number of active cases of coronavirus has dropped in Armenia.
“For the first time the coronavirus patients are decreasing rather than increasing in number,” he said during a Facebook live. “Of course, I also have bad news; two more deaths have been recorded. I would like to add that the average age of the deceased is 74.8.”
“We have a chance to break the backbone of the virus," he said, adding that much depends on individual responsibility.
He called on employers to take special anti-epidemic measures in their companies to reduce the spread of the virus.
The premier apologized to the citizens for the inconvenience. He hoped that the virus would recede as a result of the predicted hot weather, the measures taken by the Commandant’s Office and the restrictions imposed during the state of emergency extended until May 14.
“At the moment we have a strong chance to break the backbone of the epidemic, but it should triple and multiple our vigilance," he reiterated, calling on citizens to be courageous, vigilant and disciplined.
