Artsakh presidential runoff: Arayik Harutyunyan scores landslide victory
Former Artsakh Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, who leads the Free Homeland Party, scored a sweeping victory in the presidential election runoff on Tuesday.
The country’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced that Harutyunyan garnered 88% of the votes or 39,860 votes.
His only challenger, incumbent Foreign Minister Masis Mayilyan claimed only 12% or 3,784 votes.
The voter turnout in the second round of presidential elections was 45%, CEC Chairwoman Srbuhi Arzumanyan said.
Under the Artsakh law, a final decision on the election results will be made on April 21.
