Turkish Embassy in Baku refutes reports by Turkish officials about alleged assistance to Armenia
The Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan has refuted reports about humanitarian assistance allegedly provided to Armenia, thus confirming the clarification of the Armenian side on the matter. “This information is false,” the embassy has told Trend new agency.
“In connection with the statements in the press, we declare that, as a humanitarian action, the authorized representatives of Turkey ensured the return of up to 70 Armenian citizens living in Turkey to their country through Georgia. There is no humanitarian aid assistance,” said the embassy, as quoted by the source.
To remind, earlier media cited Turkish officials insisting Armenia had asked Turkey for assistance within the framework of the fight against COVID19. The Armenian foreign ministry clarified that the country had not asked for any other assistance except interaction with Turkish and Georgian sides for organizing the return of its citizens facing difficult situation to their homeland.
