Nearly 85,000 families to receive support as part of 13th coronavirus relief measure in Armenia
At a government meeting on Thursday, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan presented the 13th relief measure to support the socially vulnerable families facing social problems due to the coronavirus outbreak.
"As of April, the beneficiaries of the measure are the families entitled to family and social benefits. It covers nearly 85,000 families,” the minister said, adding that the families will get one-time assistance at a rate of 50% of their benefits.
70% of the support is provided to the family in cash, together with the payment of April benefits, while 30% is transferred as a payment for the electricity consumed by the subscriber. In case the beneficiary is not a subscriber, the amount is provided in cash. If the beneficiary has a debt, the amount is directed to its repayment, otherwise it is registered as a prepayment for electricity consumption.
A total of 1.2 billion drams have been allocated for the implementation of the program.
