So far, five employees of Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Three of them are receiving treatment, while the other two have already recovered from the disease, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Harutyunyan told reporters on Friday.

42 employees of the ministry who have had contact with the infected colleagues are quarantined, the official said.

According to him, emergency workers undergo medical examinations and fever screening three times a day. By the minister’s order, all dedicated employees, who have performed more functions and even worked without rest amid the coronavirus outbreak, are awarded.

Also, Harutyunyan said that the ministry’s National Center for Crisis Management has handled a total of 1,107 coronavirus-related calls since the disease outbreak, providing psychological support to 411 citizens.

In total, the ministry’s vehicles have transported 855 people who have been in contact with confirmed cases.

According to Harutyunyan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is carrying out disinfection work in public areas. During this period, 7,376 areas have been disinfected by the ministry staff.

Separately, he said that the number of emergencies increased by 190 in the first quarter of 2020 against the same period of 2019. 3,621 emergency cases were recorded in Armenia in the first three months, he said.
