Swedish princess joins hospital staff during coronavirus outbreak
Swedish Princess Sofia Hellqvis began volunteering at hospital during the coronavirus outbreak Thursday, The Hill reported, citing People Magazine.
Hellqvis, wife of Prince Carl-Phillip of Sweden, is assisting with non-medical tasks such as disinfecting equipment, doing shifts in the kitchen and cleaning at Sophiahemmet Hospital.
The princess is a board member at the hospital, and according to the celebrity news outlet, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday.
According to the magazine, Hellqvis took an intensive online emergency training program before she started volunteering.
“In the crisis we find ourselves in, the Princess wants to get involved and make a contribution as a voluntary worker to relieve the large workload of health care professionals,” the Royal Court said in a statement.
Sweden has 12,540 confirmed cases and 1,333 reported deaths as of Thursday evening, according to a count by Johns Hopkins.
The Swedish Royal Family, which has been working remotely since the start of the pandemic, is worth $70 million, according to Business Insider.
