Filmmaker Sarik Andreasyan working on adaptation of Alexander Pushkin’s ‘Eugene Onegin’
Famous Russian-Armenian film director Sarik Andreasyan has started working on the screen adaptation of "Eugene Onegin", a romantic verse novel by renowned Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The film will follow the style of “The Great Gatsby”, Kulturomania.ru reports.
"It should be made in a delicate manner not to stir hatred," the director said.
Sarik Andreasyan says the official film project will be presented in a year.
"We need to look for funding," he said.
One of Sarik Andreasyan’s highly regarded films is "Earthquake" telling about the devastating Spitak earthquake of December 7, 1988.
He is best known for the film "Defenders", which premiered in February 2017. According to critics, the film failed at the box office.
