Robert Kocharyan's lawyer files a new petition to change the ex-president’s precautionary measure
The lawyer of Armenia’s ex-President Robert Kocharyan Hovhannes Khudoyan filed motion with the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction to replace the detention as precautionary measure against ex-president.
As Kocharyan’s defense team reported, the lawyer cited in the motion the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in the republic, and the risk factors for possible infection of the president considering also the latter’s age group.
The lawyer has also applied to the Chairman of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction to appoint a different judge for the consideration of the petition. It is noted that the court hearing on the case of Robert Kocharyan and others accused of overthrowing the constitutional order during the 2008 March 1 events is scheduled for May 8. Judge Anna Danibekyan, presiding over the court hearing, has been on vacation since March 13 and is expected to return on March 7.
