Commandant says more businesses may be allowed to reopen in Armenia
Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in almost all provinces of Armenia, with the government efforts to be focused on the most affected parts of the country, Commandant, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan told a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
He said that the restrictions on the interregional movement have been lifted and the respective checkpoints set up between the provinces have been removed.
Also, the official said the operations of some businesses have been allowed.
"As promised, we are gradually moving towards opening up the economy," he said.
Avinyan said that the contact tracing system is working more efficiently and that it has been completely moved to the management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, where epidemiologists, the ministry’s employees and programmers will work together.
"At this phase, the rate of the spread of coronavirus is still under control and if it proceeds in this way, we will continue to lift restrictions on different types of economic activity," Avinyan said.
