Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province reports 6 new cases of COVID-19
Six new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, bringing the total number of cases to 62 in the province, Gegharkunik Governor Gnel Sanosyan said in a Facebook post.
“In total, we have 62 confirmed cases in the province. One fatality has been recorded. The victim was an 81-year-old patient who had underlying chronic health conditions,” the governor wrote.
Speaking to Panorama.am, Lusine Vardanyan, the head of the Health and Social Security Department at the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, said that all the cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the town of Vardenis.
"No infections have been recorded in other communities of the province yet. We have already identified the contacts of the new patients and isolated the people who have had close contact with them. At the moment, we are estimating how many self-isolated and isolated citizens the province has,” she said.
