Opposition activist beaten up by parliament vice-speaker in Yerevan - reports
Adekvat opposition group members report that the co-founder of Adekvat party, opposition activist Artur Danielyan has been attacked by Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Alen Simonyan in Yerevan on Wednesday.
Konstantin Ner-Nakalyan, member of Adekvat party confirmed to Panorama.am the incident, saying: “Alen Simonyan (Vice Speaker of Parliament) attacked Artur Danielyan in the street when the latter was walking.” Ter-Nakalyan declined to provide further details of the incident, citing lack of information.
Meanwhile, Independent MP Arman Babajanyan took to Facebook to inform that Deputy Speaker Simonyan has been himself attacked by the opposition activist. Babajanyan said he had reported the incident to the Police and had a short phone conversation with Simonyan.
The brawl is thought to have preceded the verbal quarrel between the two.
Reports on social media suggest Danielyan has been hospitalized at Erebuni medical centre. Some Facebook users inform that Police has arrested Danielyan before hospitalization and has not allowed him to receive first medical aid.
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Alen Simonyan has not commented on the incident yet.
