PM instructs to expand anti-crisis measures covering utility fees
Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a regular consultation was held on Thursday in the Office of Government to discuss the Government’s anti-crisis policy aimed at curbing the coronavirus-driven pandemic’s adverse consequences.
As the government press service reported, the Chairman of the Central Bank Artur Javadyan briefed on the course of implementation of 1st and 2nd anti-crisis measures. It was noted that some 1176 applications were received as part of the first programme out of which 296 were approved with total amount of 24,9 billion AMD. The means were directed to cover salary and utility payments by economic entities, tax payments, the import and acquisition of new equipment. As part of the second measure, 6,729 agriculture-related applications were approved with total amount of 8,5 billion AMD.
The consultation reflected on the possibility of further social assistance programmes, specifically in covering utility fees of the population. After a debate and exchange of opinions, the PM instructed to expand the scope of anti-crisis measures on electricity, gas and water fees and present a draft decision to the government.
