Armenian media allowed free access to data of state register
From now on, the data of the State Register of Legal Entities of the Armenian Ministry of Justice will be free of charge for the media. Previously, the media had to pay 3,000 drams of state duty to obtain information about each legal entity from the state register.
The respective order allowing free access to the data of the state register for the media, which Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan issued on Wednesday, takes effect on Thursday, April 30, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
Starting from Thursday, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs carrying out media activities can present a completed application with the attached documents to the territorial service offices of the State Register of Legal Entities of the Ministry of Justice operating at the moment.
“Meanwhile, taking into account the state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia and the restrictions on the movement of people in the country, the applications can also be submitted online by sending the application and the attached documents to [email protected] till the end of the state of emergency. The results of the study of the attached documents will be summed up within three days after the application is submitted,” the statement reads.
The move is aimed at further strengthening guarantees of investigative journalism and freedom of the press, and will help the media provide more accurate and comprehensive information to the public, the ministry said.
