Three recovered coronavirus patients test positive again in Armenia – health minister
Three patients have tested positive for coronavirus again after a full recovery from the disease, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said at the parliament on Monday.
According to the minister, there is a big academic debate going on about whether a recovered patient can contract the infection again or whether the virus simply deactivates in the body and then reactivates.
None of the three patients have any symptoms or complaints, but they were diagnosed with COVID-19 two weeks after being discharged from hospital.
They are again quarantined in an effort to prevent the potential spread of the virus, Torosyan said.
According to the minster, such cases have been recorded mainly in China and South Korea, and South Korean scientists have come to a conclusion that they are not reinfections, but rather a kind of virus survival in the tissues of the mouth or throat.
