Brawl erupts in Armenian parliament
A brawl broke out in the Armenian National Assembly on Friday as opposition Bright Armenia faction head Edmon Marukyan was addressing lawmakers and cabinet members.
The dispute erupted between the opposition MP and My Step ruling faction deputy Sasun Mikayelyan, after which the latter approached the MP as he was leaving the parliament floor and hit Marukyan, with a fighting ensued.
Dozens of legislators, as well as deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan tried to pull the MPs from the opposing parties apart, which soon turned into a big clash. The lawmakers also traded insults and swear words.
Parliament Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan tried to calm down the brawling lawmakers, eventually announcing a break.
It was not immediately clear why the fight started.
