Public transport to resume in Armenia from May 18
The public transport throughout Armenia will resume from May 18, Tigran Avinyan, the Commandant of the country’s state of emergency stated during the cabinet sitting on Thursday.
Avinyan noted that consultation are underway to consider measures over the coming two weeks, including those related to exercising the right of free movement and the operation of businesses.
As the government looks to ease coronavirus lockdown restrictions to spur economic and other activities, Avinyan made it clear that the state will not lower its guard and not hesitate in imposing stricter curbs if things don't go as planned.
“Most of the restrictions were lifted on May 1. We envisage to fully operate the public transport from May 18 and open the trade centres and cafes and restaurants. Gyms will reopen as well as kindergartens,” Avinyan said, adding: “Let me stress, the process of easing restrictions will be communicated with new rules of behavior and failing to meet those rules will result in fines,” Avinyan stressed.
