Ombudsman’s office publishes extraordinary report on Azerbaijani shelling of Berkaber border village
The Office of Armenia’s Human Rights Defender has published an extraordinary report on the recent shelling of Armenian Berkaber village by Azerbaijani forces. The report reminds that Berkaber village of Tavush region came under fire from the Azerbaijani combat bases on May 13.
It is noted that the representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office conducted a site visited and implemented fact-finding activities at the scene. The report documented that the shelling targeted a civilian settlement in the territory of the Republic of Armenia and that the Azerbaijani forces fired from large-caliber weapons as a result of which residential houses were damaged.
The report stated that the shelling that came amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the common efforts aimed at preventing the spread of the virus, was intended to endanger the life of and health of the villagers and damage their property.
