The expectation from our strategic partner Russia is that it is not the best time now to discuss the price increase of the natural gas supplied to Armenia in a situation when there is a sharp oil price decline and coronavirus crisis with pending social issues for the moment, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Saturday during the press conference.

Asked by Russian Interfax news agency to comment on the current phase of negotiations regarding the gas price, Pashinyan noted that political consultations are currently underway and he cannot comment further. The PM reminded that Gazprom Armenia has filed a request with the Public Services Regulatory Commission to review the gas price.

Speaking of the ongoing developments around the Russian companies operating in Armenia, the PM noted that those issues have always been discussed with his Russian counterpart in an open atmosphere and concrete arrangements have been made. “It remains to implement them considering the interests of the two countries,” added the PM.

“As to the problems and issues, let me stress that we have a rich agenda and the approach is to move forward through solving all issues. I am confident this will be the case in the future as well,” Pashinyan said, adding solution may come though a compromise.
