Today marks International Museum Day
Today, May 18, is celebrated annually as International Museum Day.
With the theme Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion, International Museum Day 2020 aims at becoming a rallying point to both celebrate the diversity of perspectives that make up the communities and personnel of museums, and champion tools for identifying and overcoming bias in what they display and the stories they tell, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) website reported. This year, all the events marking the day will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On May 18, all museums of Armenia and Artsakh will implement various programs online, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport reports.
The National Gallery of Armenia will host an event titled "Online tour to the National Gallery of Armenia" at 8pm.
The Mashtots Matenadaran organizes "Accessibility during the pandemic" online tour set to kick off at 3pm on its official Facebook page.
At 12pm, Martiros Sarian House Museum is to host an online event dedicated to the creation of Alexander Spendiaryan’s "Almast" opera, the historic meeting of three Armenian geniuses Hovhannes Tumanyan, Spendiaryan and Saryan.
At 1:30pm, the Museum of Russian Art (collection of A. Abrahamyan) will present its new website on Facebook. From now on, the Museum of Russian Art will have the opportunity to present its collection and activities on a new, larger virtual platform – rusartmuseum.am.
