Deputy PM: Coronavirus crisis also a stimulus for major reforms
The coronavirus restrictions allowed the Armenian government to gain time and adapt to the situation, increasing the capacity of the healthcare system, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said during an online meeting of the World Economic Forum's Europe and Eurasia Regional Group.
The meeting focused on the strategies of governments and businesses to overcome the economic crisis caused by COVID-19, as well as the challenges in global and regional value chains and the possible solutions, the deputy PM’s office reported.
Presenting Armenia’s strategy for handling the crisis, Avinyan, who also coordinates the government's measures against coronavirus, said that after the necessary preparations, the government eased the restrictions, meanwhile imposing new mandatory rules and guidelines for the economy and public behavior in the new situation.
Tigran Avinyan said that this period of crisis is also a stimulus for major reforms, especially in digitalization. He touched upon the further development opportunities of the digital economy, digital governance and digital society, briefly presenting Armenia’s experience.
