Armenian ombudsman blasts offensive, hateful remarks about civil aviation chief, newborn daughter
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Arman Tatoyan has strongly condemned the offensive and hateful remarks about Civil Aviation Committee Chair Tatevik Revazian and her newborn daughter.
"I have just seen the absolutely unacceptable, anti-human and anti-legal post of a person about Tatevik Revazian and her newborn daughter.
"This post is full of hate speech, the most reprehensible phenomenon with expressions that absolutely hurt the dignity of a person, a woman who has just become a mother. The hatred targeting the newborn is especially absolutely condemnable," he said in a statement.
Tatoyan called for ruling out and eradicating such cases and holding the person to account.
He also asked social media users not to use that person's post in publications in order not to spread hate speech.
The ombudsman promised to stay focused on the issue and take all measures within his powers.
"I will provide additional information about the steps taken in the morning," he added.
