Armenia acquired Kawasaki disease drugs as precaution, health minister says
The Armenian health authorities are taking measures to fight against the possible cases of Kawasaki disease in the country after reports on the spread of the disease in France, northern Italy and New York amid the coronavirus pandemic, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan told a news conference on Thursday.
According to the official, only three cases of Kawasaki disease have been recorded in Armenia this year.
Taking into account the fact that the disease has symptomatic treatment, the minister says they have already acquired stockpiles of expensive drugs used for treating it as a precaution.
Separately, the minister says a total of 270 children under 18 years of age have tested positive for coronavirus, 2 of whom have walking pneumonia, but none of them are in serious condition.
23 pregnant women have also contracted COVID-19, Torosyan said, adding their lives are not in danger.
