Armenian parliamentary committee to hold special sitting on Higher Qualification Committee head’s resignation
By the decision of Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, the committee will convene an emergency sitting on May 25, at 12pm.
The sitting will focus on the resignation of Smbat Gogyan, Chairman of the Armenian Higher Qualification Committee, as well as his statement on May 14.
According to Gogyan, one of the reasons for his resignation is that there are obvious translations and cheating in the doctoral thesis of the acting rector of the Armenian State University of Economics. Gogyan claims the acting rector continues to hold office due to his ties and sponsorship.
In addition to lawmakers, Smbat Gogyan and Grisha Tamrazyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, will also attend the sitting.
