Economic competition chief: More complaints against state bodies filed this year
"In 2019, we initiated six proceedings over violations of competition laws by state bodies. This is unprecedented,” Gegham Gevorgyan, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, said in the National Assembly on Monday, presenting the report on the activity of the commission last year.
He does not recall a case when the commission previously held a state body or an official responsible.
"The public should have confidence in autonomous bodies and structure. If they see a violation of the legislation by the state or restriction of their rights, they must definitely report it. This year we have more complaints and lawsuits against state bodies,” said the economic competition chief.
He expressed hope that state bodies and officials will refrain from committing violations, stating that the study of the conditions of renting the territories belonging to state bodies has been listed among the priorities of 2020.
"There are complaints when the columns are provided to different persons under different conditions. We are asking state bodies to properly address these issues,” he said.
