New Artsakh police chief awards his predecessor
Artsakh President-elect Arayik Harutyunyan introduced on Tuesday new Chief of Police Ashot Hakobjanyan to the people.
At a meeting with the newly appointed police chief, Levon Mnatsakanyan, who was dismissed from the post earlier in the day, stressed that every measure had been taken in one year to root out the atmosphere of impunity in Artsakh.
"Of course, there were riots, during which the police imposed coercion, but that coercion was proportionate and targeted. In other words, the police system was not restrained at all. Of course, we are experiencing hard times, with problems facing police which require a professional approach. I hope that this difficult path will improve day by day,” Mnatsakanyan stressed.
The newly appointed Artsakh police chief first thanked for the high confidence, assuring everything will be done to ensure rule of law in the country.
"I want to thank Mr. Mnatsakanyan for his contribution. If you allow me, I will issue my first order right now. So, I order to award Lieutenant-General Levon Mnatsakanyan with the "Guardian of the Law" medal,” he said.
Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan said in turn that from today on he will stay focused on the police system.
"The fate and problem of every policeman will be my problem. A police officer must fulfill his/her duties prescribed by law in the best way possible,” the Artsakh leader stressed.
