4-year-old child with coronavirus also diagnosed with Kawasaki disease in Armenia
A 4-year-old child with the asymptomatic coronavirus infection has also been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease in Armenia, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
“The incidence of Kawasaki disease among children has recently increased in different countries which some researchers have linked to the coronavirus pandemic,” the minister said, adding the condition more commonly affects kids under 5 years of age.
In Torosyan’s words, taking into account the international statistics the ministry has stored expensive drugs used for treating Kawasaki syndrome.
“I hope the child will recover soon. Doctors assess his condition as moderate. And I urge both the elderly and the children to strictly abide by the anti-epidemic rules, always wear face masks and frequently wash or disinfect their hands,” the health minister said.
