Pashinyan: Criminal case opened over Meymandar market incident
Meymandar market in Armenia’s Ararat Province is shut down, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Facebook on Wednesday.
“A special police operation was carried out at night, a criminal case has been launched into yesterday's events, around three dozen people have been detained, some have been arrested," he wrote.
A protest was staged at the market on Tuesday as the farmers selling their products opposed the decision of Commandant Tigran Avinyan to close the market for 24 hours to carry out disinfection work there. They complained that their products would spoil during that period.
