Former NSS chief: Nikol Pashinyan must step down
Former Director of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, Chairman of the Homeland Party Artur Vanetsyan urges Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to step down, blaming him for the coronavirus crisis in the country.
“Pashinyan must resign because what is happening in the country is a disaster which will lead to more serious consequences day by day," he said during a speech at the opening of the Homeland Party's office in the city of Vanadzor.
The former security chief unveiled plans to open offices of the party in all Armenian provinces for them to be able to communicate with citizen as soon as possible, Hraparak Daily reported.
"Our homeland and state are in an extremely bad situation. We must first and foremost be able to heal the political field with new ideas. The problem of authorities is that they do not accept criticism. When someone says anything, they immediately start saying that the person is fulfilling an order. I have not been fired, I have resigned; it’s necessary to be careful with wordings,” he stressed.
“The authorities point out the 43 billion drams returned to the budget, which happened during my tenure. After my resignation, nothing has been returned to the state budget. Yes, I have made mistakes, but I have not made any mistakes to be ashamed of during my service,” Vanetsyan stated.
